Olive’s Friend Pop has established itself as a firm Babyology favourite for its vintage pieces which are evocative of the childhoods of yesteryear. With a focus on clothing for girls, the popularity of the unisex pieces produced for its last collection has inspired a few more for the new range, which will delight parents of boys.

We first showed you Olive’s Friend Pop at last year’s Kids Instyle show with follow up editorial in September 2010 and now here’s a peek at what this beautiful label will be showcasing at this year’s Sydney show. Above is the very first Olive’s Friend Pop swimsuit!

There are the label’s signature floral dresses with frilled short sleeves and scalloped collars.

Just look at these sweet unisex overalls! So gorgeously tailored and so innocent in both short and long leg.

More pretty dresses and delicious shorts and below is the first sleepwear from the brand!

The new collection will go into stores in July, and we’ll be sure to catch up with the Olive’s Friend Pop team at the Kids Instyle show this week to see it for ourselves!

I’ve been meaning to post about welcoming a new label into our store for the past week! But as always, time just gets away… But here I am, thrilled to introduce you all to ‘Olive’s Friend Pop’! I’m not sure if you’ve heard of this little label before, but it is really sweet and of such fine detail and quality.

It is a rather special line, however Julia & Lea insist it isn’t special occassion’ wear. Instead, everything in their collection is made to be played in and grubbed up!

Julia & Lea were inspired by proper little-girls’ clothes of their grandmothers’ generation, Post WWII, and from a time when little girls looked like little girls. This is their third collection and the very first collection to include unisex and boys pieces which is terribly exciting for those of you who LOVE Olive’s Friend Pop for your little ladies from past collections and also have a special little lad in your life.

Totally new to their collection is their Unisex Overalls, Unisex Knickerbockers and some gorgeous vintage inspired boys button up shirts!

For the girls they have their sweet little aprons which are perfect for keeping clothes clean from play whilst looking ridiculously cute in their mini vintage apron! You’ll also find the aprons can be colour co-ordinated with the rest of their collection this season. If your looking for a gorgeous coat for your little girl for a chilly winter, you cannot go past the Kitty Girls Coat – the quality is fabulous and my daughter will get two winters out of hers at least.

If your a lover of vintage inspired pieces, you will adore THIS collection!

Hello there, Kiddos! it’s Steph Bond from Bondville and Alix asked me if I could do a guest post for you all. I always get a thrill when I see a Weekly Kiddo wearing Australian designs. There are a *huge* amount of talented kids fashion designers in Australia and many of these hard-working entrepreneurs are Mums, working their butts off. So in celebration of the little guy/gal, and the dreams and determination of these folks, here is a showcase of 5 of my favourite Australian kids fashion designers: Olive’s Friend Pop
If you love the nostalgic sweetness of the 1940′s, then the sweet-as-pie designs from Sydney-based Olive’s Friend Pop are for you. These are hard-working, stylish pieces that your parents (and grandparents) will love too. You can find Sydney-based Olive’s Friend Pop at stockists around Australia, online and in South Korea

We got our first glimpse of the summer collection from Olive’s Friend Pop in February this year at the Sydney Kids Instyle show. If you have been counting down the days to get your hands on some of these beyond-gorgeous ‘nostalgic playwear’ pieces, you’ll be happy to know they are now available.

While it is hard to play favourites when everything is so pretty, the Lily pleated shell top with its sweet button brooch is summer perfection (shown above). Teamed with the Ruby tailored shorts, I’m in heaven. I have a few wardrobe weaknesses – capes, bonnets, tailored short-shorts for little girls and playsuits. If I spot any of these things in a range, I always pause for a closer look. As you can imagine, Olive’s Friend Pop has won me over with their Betty bonnet, Ruby shorts and Joanie short overalls.

The delicate floral prints in the summer collection are simply lovely and most designs also come in plain colours (soft blue, practical navy and creamy whites) so that you can mix and match for a complete look (or complete wardrobe, as the case may be!).

The summer collection is available at a number of stockists including online at Kido Store. Prices start from $29.95.

When I was a little girl my extremely talented grandmother was my main source of fashion: from playsuits, dresses, knits, coats, hats and on-1970s-trend ponchos, there was nothing she couldn’t turn her deft hand to. The quality of these pieces, both in the textile and the make was truly exceptional, enabling them to be worn not just by me, but by my own children.

Olive’s Friend Pop- www.olivesfriendpop.com.au – is an Australian label for girls from size 1-4 that takes me back to the quality and care of the pieces my grandmother made me. The naive charm of Olive’s Friend Pop evoke a strong sense of nostalgia: of days spent outdoors making mudpies; of teddy tea-parties; of running until the point of collapse in fits of giggles, and the high quality fabrics and construction ensure that these will become heirloom pieces that you can pass down to your grandchildren.

The Olive’s Friend Pop Spring/Summer 2010-11 Collection is priced from $29.95-$129.95 and is now available to view on the Olive’s Friend Pop website; buy it from Kawaii Kids.

I just love the childrens label Olive's Friend Pop! It is a collection of delightful clothes for little girls. They call their clothing nostalgic playwear. It is reminicient of the clothes our grandmothers wore.

The summer collection is full of pretty little tops and dresses in florals, cute little shorts and their gorgeous little aprons.

Last season, Olive's Friend Pop hit the fashion world with their debut collection with much success and this second collection is just as stunning!! Olive's Friend Pop, a new Australian label, is a collection of vintage-inspired, original clothing for little girls. Their creations are inspired by proper little-girls' clothes of our grandmothers' generation, Post WWII, and from a time when little girls looked like little girls.

A lovely top with great detailing. A buttoned back and a lovely brooch. Reminds us of tea with our nanna.

Olive's Friend Pop - Good Ol' Fashioned Summer
Aug 2010

http://kidindependent.com/

I’ve been swooning over the delicious spring summer collection from Olive’s Friend Pop all morning and thought it was only fair that I share the retro goodness with you. I suggest reading this post to the theme from Happy Days, in honour of the beautiful Joanie Overalls… now if only there was a garment named Charchi.

Olive’s Friend Pop is a nostalgic take on modern children’s clothing, with to-die-for liberty prints in summer hues of red, green, purple, lemon and my favourite, baby blue. I can’t get enough of the ric-rac detailing, sharp pleats and perfectly placed buttons and trims. I’ll take one of each thanks!

This spring, Olive’s Friend Pop introduces us to Alice, Doris, Bessie, Lily, Ava, Ethal, Etta, Minnie and Joanie. Doesn’t that roll call sound like you’re watching re-runs of Classic TV Shows from the 1950s? Sometimes I truly wish that I was born about 20 odd years earlier in the “Leave it to Beaver” era… ahh, simple times!

The spring summer collection from Olive’s Friend Pop is landing in stores as I type. You can also snap up your favourite piece from their online store.

They call it nostalgic playware. Modern heirlooms. I call it adorable. Vintage inspired frocks by Olive’s Friend Pop for girls to play in. Makes you just want to go out and have kids, doesn’t it? I mean, if they look that cute, they’ve got to BE that cute, right? Only that kind of thinking will get you nowhere good… Unfortunately, these clothes are only available outside the US, as far as I can tell…that makes them not exactly practical. Plus, seeing the way my daughter looks after a good day of play, these are the last clothes I’d put her in. They are too cute to get destroyed by dirt, sand, scuffs and tears. Maybe the next time I have a friend visiting Australia, I can send along a request. Until then, I can settle for visualizing my daughter’s adorable little body bedecked in these sweet clothes.
